Member of the Month
Our July Member of the Month is Claude and his ‘66 Mustang, a body style he’s admired since first seeing his neighbor’s bright red coupe in 1967.
Claude says he could never afford a clean/good looking Mustang, so instead, in ‘77, he purchased a cheap 68 cougar from someone. It was cheap because the motor needed work but he bought it and he still has that cat today, but according to Claude it now looks ROUGH!
At our club’s Tropicana Palms Car spring car show this Mustang was being shown by it's previous owner with a "for sale" sign on it. He contacted the owner, but was told the car was sold. Claude gave his number, "just in case", and when the sale fell through, a deal was made. The Mustang has a 289 2 barrel "c code" engine, a "green dot" c-4 tranny, factory a/c, standard interior, and a/m radio. The only upgrades on the car are dual mufflers/exhausts, replica styled steel wheels, and upgraded after-market power disk brakes up front. He LOVES the attention the car gets when he drives it, and wishes he had purchased one sooner. The only additional upgrade he wants to do to the car is install a newer am/fm radio, as the sound out of the factory am radio is terrible!
